Like the majority of us, I have been watching what is happening over in LA in regard to the fires.
I honestly cannot imagine being in this situation and my heart goes out to everyone affected.
It makes me sad to think about the animals and wildlife that as a result have potentially lost their life, a family member, their home or even their guardian.
I am so grateful to the animal rescuers and human guardians that support our fur-baby’s in their time of need.
I recall about a year ago asking fur-guardians if they had a rescue plan or kit for their fur-baby and the results were quite scary with many guardians not having a plan in place for their fur-baby.
I really encourage you all to have a plan in place for your fur-baby for events such as this. Even just having a few of the “ready to go” basics such as food, water, homeopathy kit and other medications can make all the difference.
Considering the recent events, I think it is important to educate people on the homeopathic remedies that can really help support our fur-baby’s at this time.
Smoke inhalation, burns, fear and shock are going to be the more common mental, emotional and physical ailments that you would see in animals at this time.
Homeopathy for Shock Caused By Natural Disasters
Aconite 200c – With any natural disaster fear, shock, panic and anxiety are always going to be present in our animals. Their lives are being threatened. Aconite is going to help them feel safe, reduce their anxiety, panic and fear. This remedy is essential to give in any situation where the animal feels that they are fighting for their lives. This remedy will really help support their nervous system and help bring it back into a calmer state.
Homeopathy for Smoke Inhalation
Carbo veg 30c – This is a good homeopathic remedy that is supportive when air quality is compromised. It also helps to support the respiratory system during those times. In my clinic I use this remedy for animals when I see them having respiratory difficulties and are trying to seek out a source of fresh moving air as this makes them feel better.
Homeopathy for Burns
With any burns it is always a good idea to consult with your animal homeopath or your local vet as other treatments may need to be used in conjunction with homeopathy. The treatment; homeopathy included, will also differ depending on what caused the burn, where it is located and to what degree the burn is. However, until you can seek profession advice below are my top two remedies for burns:
Cantharis 30c – This is for serious burns (2nd/3rd degree) which are terribly painful and are better for cold applications. The fur-baby will not want the cold application removed as they are better for cold application. This remedy will help relieve the intense pain caused by a burn, particularly in instances where there is redness, burning, smarting, intense itching and blistering.
Arsenicum 30c – This remedy is to be considered when the burn is very serious, and the fur-baby is very anxious and restless due to the pain. Unlike Cantharis, they will seek out the warmth and will not want a cold compress on their burns.
Going forward it is crucial to have a first aid kit for your fur-baby, especially with the increasing frequency of natural disasters.
Whether it's an earthquake, flood, or wildfire, these events can put both you and your animals at risk. A well-stocked homeopathic kit can help you respond to injuries, illnesses, or emergencies quickly, potentially saving your fur-baby’s life.
